Anthony Montague Browne was born in 1923. He served as a pilot in the RAF between 1941 and 1945 before entering the Foreign Service in 1946, and in 1952 was seconded as Private Secretary to Winston Churchill. After Churchill's death he served in the Royal Household, and subsequently worked in the City. A founding Trustee and Chairman of the Council of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, he lives in Berkshire.
